Why do teenagers think they are smarter than their parents? Why do think they know so much?
Have you ever experienced this? You go to bed thinking you have all your ducks lined up for the next day. When the next day comes your teenager reminds you that during the night you must have lost everything that was in your brain. At that same moment in time your cherished little one, the one you gave birth to has had an infusion of knowledge and she does not hesitate to let you know about it.
All of a sudden they are an expert on everything. “Oh Mom, I do not need driving lessons, I have been playing video games all my life, how hard can driving be?” “Mom I know that Kraft Mac and Cheese has lots and lots of nutritional value, because it says so on the box, can’t you read?” “Mom stop reminding me to clean up my room, I have a brain you know.” Mom, I don’t need to go to the library to get a book for my report, I know all the stuff I need to know, I’m going to ace the test.
On and on it goes. Finally those teenage years pass and the sweetness of your child once again returns. She becomes the lovely adult that makes you proud. Suddenly it is all worth it. So do not despair, do not give up, before you know it you will be through those trying teenage time and they will be a distant memory, one that you can file away in that brain, that still has all its knowledge!
