These students might ask why is chemistry important? Why do I need to learn chemistry? There are several good answers to these questions. The most important reason is probably that chemistry is needed in many industries, and having a good knowledge of chemistry is essential for many jobs. Not just in industry jobs actually, but chemistry is also important in commerce, teaching and lecturing, science journalism and even in some law related jobs like patent agents. Today we live in the age of chemistry-based technology, and future demands will increase the expertise needed in many areas of chemical, biotechnological and pharmaceutical industries.

Chemistry is also very important in understanding how nature works, and a good basis knowledge in chemistry will help you a lot studying more specialized subjects later on in your studies. No matter how science will change in the next century, most scientists believe that chemistry will be at the center of science and one of the most important subjects you could learn.

Chemistry is a very old science, it was practice in some form as far back as 4000 years ago by the ancient Egyptians. 3000 years ago ancient civilizations where using the basis of various branches of chemistry in their technology, like extracting metal from ores, fermenting wine and beer, making pigments for painting, making cheese, dying, making medicine from plants, making soap, glass and lots of other things.

Without our extensive knowledge of chemistry our world today would be vastly different from what it is today, and in my opinion a very boring place to live. There are just so many reasons why chemistry is important, everything you touch and use in your daily life is chemical after all. Learning chemistry can be difficult and challenging at times however, so it is important to understand why chemistry is really important to human society.

Blushing — that act of blood rushing to our faces and the reddening our skin — is actually an autonomic admission of our guilt over something and a way of apologizing. It is about being embarrassed over something we have done, or even think we might have done, that we are feeling shameful for, and for which our bodies are delivering a natural reaction of compensation.

The physiology of blushing is all about vasodilation — the expansion of blood vessels for the purpose of delivering more blood and oxygen to an area. As with the “fight or flight” mechanism that sends adrenaline coursing through our bodies when something of an emotional nature occurs, adrenaline is sent to specific nerve endings in the face and neck when we are embarrassed. Those nerve endings then instruct the blood vessels to open wide and we become red-faced when more blood is delivered to the area.

That’s the physical explanation, but that doesn’t really answer the question, WHY do we blush? Knowing the physiology is useful, especially if you are an easy blusher and would like to stop or at least stem the tide of your emotional reactions.

As mentioned before, blushing is an automatic response to an emotional event. For example, if you trip over nothing, you feel embarrassed that others around you have seen your clumsiness. This is embarrassing and, for some people, will lead to blushing in response to one’s guilt over being so clumsy.

That cute girl or boy noticing you might also bring on the same emotional response. But in this case, you’ve done nothing wrong. Or have you? Your body is saying that yes, you are guilty of something when someone you like takes notice of you. For some people, especially young people, a certain feeling of embarrassment over having those kinds of feelings exist, and blushing is the natural response to experiencing guilt over those feelings.

That still does not completely answer the question, why do we blush. After all, it is a biological reaction that can be tamed. You can stop yourself from blushing with concerted effort. So why do we do it, in the first place? This is where understanding the physiological reasons behind blushing comes into play.

There is some body of evidence to suggest that this reaction came about as a biological point of evolution. As an example, you understand that an insult given to another could lead to a fight, right? What if the insult was unintentional? A person would be embarrassed when he finally understood the offense he had given. This sense of embarrassment sends that adrenaline rush, which leads to blood vessel dilation and the “flush” of redness to the face. That’s why we blush. To express to others in a social situation, our feelings of guilt and embarrassment. Our social evolution created the need for this way to admit guilt and embarrassment.

Nature has set up an excellent system of keeping our body’s temperature normal through the process of sweating. So the reason behind “why do we sweat” is just to maintain the homeostasis of the body and its normal temperature that is 98.6 degree Fahrenheit or 37 degree Celsius. This normal temperature level rises due to internal and external factors including food digestion, metabolism, exercise and warm environmental conditions etc and to get rid of this extra heat body has to perspire regularly. Sweat basically comprises water and sodium which makes it a salty secretion.

Sweating is not as simple process as it seems to be. A whole system of sweat producing glands is there in our body and to keep the sweating process functioning about two million sweat glands are present in our body. These sweating glands are categorized into two groups including Eccrine and Apocrine. Now you were thinking that why these glands are divided into categories if both secrete water and salt. The reason is that both types are different from each other on the basis of their location, smell production and salt proportion in secreted form of body waste.

Eccrine is basically present in forehead region, palms of the hands and soles of the feet etc. The sweat produced by Eccrine is composed of 90% water with less percentage of sodium. Because of having higher percentage of water sweating through Eccrine does not produce ill smelling effect. While Apocrine is found in armpits and root of hair follicle produces sweat with high salt concentration. When sweat produces by Apocrine is broken down by bacteria it causes bad smelling sensation which can be felt easily particularly during high sweat production.

Sweating is one of the best ways to replenish body wastes and heat in the form of watery mixture of salts. If this excretory system is disturbed or sweat production lowered down due to any reason then it can lead to complicated physical problems including heat stoke and faints which are common problems during severe hot weather condition. If people want to keep their natural sweating process normal to avoid physical complication and to get rid of body extra heat then they must maintain their water intake level at two gallons per day. Otherwise inadequate perspiration could lead to undesirable physiological conditions and mental disturbance. So these are the factors and whole physiological process that explains why do we sweat.

Why are people so stupid is a question you hear a lot, so why not make an article about this question here? This is usually a question people ask others out of frustration when they’ve had a bad day or met someone they didn’t get along with. Who is stupid usually depends on the eye of the beholder, and it is often used to describe someone with a different opinion than yours, especially when it is on a matter that is very important to you.

Why are people so stupid is a pretty stupid question actually, and it doesn’t really have any good answer. Some people score low on IQ tests and you can argue that these people are not intelligent, but the word stupid is usually not used for these people. Calling people of low intelligence stupid is not considered decent behaviour, and the word stupid keeps being used to describe people you disagree with instead. This is a misuse of the word obviously, but that’s usually what people mean when they ask this question.

There are many different definition of the word stupid, the most common ones are “slow to learn and understand”, “pointless or worthless” and “tending to make poor decisions or careless mistakes”. The last definition is sometimes the one people think about when they ask the question “why are people so stupid?”. Then the question is usually asked when people hear or read about someone getting in trouble making a poor decision. The question is usually not asked out of frustration in this situation, but more in a surprised way or to make fun of the people in the story.

Some researchers believe that dreaming is essential to our mental, emotional and physical well being while others believe dreaming serves no real purpose at all. The most commonly accepted theory however is that dreaming is a way for our brain to reorganize itself while we sleep. We are bombarded with new impressions every day, both consciously and unconsciously and the brain needs a certain amount of time to reorganize this information. This happens while we are sleeping. During our dream phase researchers believe the brain files away key information and discard meaningless data.

Other well known dream theories are that we dream to solve problems and to cope with trauma. Harry Fiss, one of the earliest pioneers in dream research, claimed that our dreams can help us register subtle hints that we didn’t notice during the day. Cause of this going to bed and sleeping on it can help us provide a solution to a problem. When it comes to trauma, many people dream about traumatic experiences they have had, and this may help them cope with the trauma.

The most accepted and understood reason is that cats purr when they are happy, relaxing and overall enjoy the situation they are in. That’s why cats often purr when being petted or when eating. However, there are also many other reasons why cats purr that most people do not think about. One of the most important once is reassurance for kittens. Kittens are not able to see when they are very young and their mother will purr to let her babies know they are safe and are being taken care of.

Female cats are known to purr when giving birth, if this is cause of the pain they are experienced or just to relax themselves is not certain. Cats do sometimes purr when they are injured, in pain or dying, so purring is not always a sign that the cat is feeling well. Some people claim that cats also purr to reassure humans, sitting close when their owner is upset and purr. Other people think cats sometimes purr around humans to indicate that they are hungry and want food.

Purring involves activation of nerves within their voice box, and these nerve signals cause vibration of the vocal cords. Air is pushed in and out of the vibrating cords and thus creating the musical purr. Veterinarian Neils C. Pederson, author of Feline Husbandry, believes that purring is initiated from within the central nervous system and is a voluntary act, meaning that a cat only purr when it wants to.
