Just about every living creature on this Earth needs to sleep at some point and time, it is just as important as eating. Our bodies need to rest in order to be prepared for the next day. This is also a time for our minds to think about things and sort them out. But scientist believe that during this time of sleep that our brains do some sort of organizing and storing information, also problem solving. The amount of sleep we need is dependent on our age. Babies need around fifteen hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. Adults only need about 7 hours of sleep. Children from the ages of five to twelve years of age need anywhere from ten to eleven hours of sleep, but this all depends on the individual child.

Have you noticed that when you do not get the normal amount of sleep that your body requires, you tend to be more grouchy and even clumsy, doing things that you would not normally do on a full night of sleep. If you were to miss a couple of nights of sleep you would not be able to function properly, you would have a hard time thinking straight. Scientist have studied people that have gone five consecutive nights without sleep, the person actually ends up hallucinating. The brain can not function and normal every day tasks become impossible.

So after reading this information, you might have a better understanding of the importance of sleep – for everyone. It is not beneficial for anyone to lose sleep. Did you know that an estimated average of 56,000 traffic accidents are caused by drivers falling asleep, which ends up turning into about 1,500 deaths annually.

Basically, without water there would be no life, it is as simple as that. But if you need a more detailed answer then continue reading. Did you know that 75% of the human body is water. More then 95% of the Earth’s water can be found in the oceans. The world has about 2% of its water in frozen icecaps, and 1% of the Earths water is fresh but hard to get to since it is so deep in the Earth. From what is left over, 98% of the water is used for agriculture and the other 2% is used for all other living organisms.

We as humans depend on water to keep our right body temperature, as a transporting system, and to supply us with nutrients that it carries such as minerals, salts, and elements with which all of these things combined also help heal us and digest food. In order for our bodies to function the right way, water is like a lubricant for all of our joints. It also keeps our eyes and our mouths moist. The older we get the more we need to drink water. The average person should be drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day. If you are a heavy tea, coffee or alcohol drinker then your body needs to intake more water because those are all diuretics and they dehydrate you of all your water.

The human race depends on our water sources and with the growing population and everything that goes with it, our water is becoming more and more scarce.

Do you find yourself asking that same old question day in and day out? Asking your kids that same question, “why don’t you ever listen to me?” This is a common everyday occurrence for just about all families. Now I have a question for you, do you listen to your children? I mean really listen, when they ask you tons of questions or they are trying to explain things to you, do you look them straight in the face and give them 100% of your attention.

I can just about bet that everyone would have to be honest and say “no”. It is so hard to listen to your kids especially when they get to question one hundred and it is only noon. Right, if you really want your kids to listen to you then you need to listen to them. Do as I say, not as I do. Well they are better at doing what you do and if listening to them is what you do then they are going to follow in your foot steps.

When you get down to your child’s level and listen to what seems to be something really important that they are trying to tell you, it makes them feel loved and they tend to trust you more. You open up the doors for them making them feel welcomed and understood. You feel your children are the most important thing in the world to you, I know I do, so show them that and make them feel they are the most important thing in the world to you. You may be surprised on what you get in return.

Almost 71% of the planet is covered with water. Water is important. It is known as the elixir of life. True to its words, water is very important for life to thrive on this planet. The earliest known forms of life – the micro organisms and the plankton were water borne. It is a known fact that life as we know it today has evolved from a marine ecosystem – single celled, aquatic organisms led to multi-cellular aquatic life-forms which over a period of time has evolved in such great magnitude with varied diversity.

It is postulated that oceans evolved in the very beginning. The searing heat and the atmospheric temperatures that had grown considerably began to decrease with the formation of this vast aqueous medium, eventually cooling down the primordial planet thus providing optimal conditions for the procreation of life.

All early civilizations known to man have flourished because of the presence of water. All civilizations have been founded historically in places that abound with this precious liquid. The Mesopotamian civilization, known as the “cradle of civilization” was situated between the Tigris and the Euphrates. The Indus Valley Civilization thrived and flourished because of the presence of the Indus. The great Egyptian Empire was founded on the banks of the river Nile.

Water is very important – it has a major impact on life. It is critical for the sustenance of life. Water is known as the universal solvent. All metabolic processes need water. Propagation of organic minerals and salts in all life forms takes place in an aqueous medium as water is capable of dissolving almost all solutes, maintaining a neutral pH level and increasing enzymatic action. Water plays a central role in the process of photosynthesis. The cells in plants harness the sun’s energy and convert this energy into food and release oxygen. This cannot happen unless water molecules are broken down into its constituents. The sun’s energy is tapped and is used to split up water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. This hydrogen then reacts with CO2, to form glucose and oxygen.

Water is very important in all walks of human life. Agriculture is dependent on irrigation, potable drinking water is necessary for human survival. Trade was carried on in waterways and entire civilizations have thrived because of the presence of water. Water therefore is important for the genesis of life and its sustenance.

Why is respect important is a simple but significant question which must be answered if someone does not have a clear viewpoint about it. But first it is important to know that what respect actually is. Respect is a basic moral value or need which makes us aware that we are human beings not wild animals. So we should respect others and should be respected by others to prove our humane identity among all other creatures present on this earth. The awareness about respect must be instilled in every human being from his childhood whether he belongs to a lower social class or an aristocratic section of society. Respecting your parents, teachers and elders is the main step towards teaching the meaning and importance of respect in our life.

Respecting others is a silent way to express our feeling for them. It’s an unspoken way of communication which build unshaken and strong relations between people respecting each other. When a person shows respect for someone, then it means that the person have some value for him. His advices and suggestions are important for him.

Some people, particularly younger generation, thinks that showing respect to someone means that you are degrading yourself. They take respect as a sign of weakness or inferiority which could harm one’s self respect. But it is absolutely wrong concept about the basic trait or emotion which makes us a real human being.
Another way of understanding that respect important is to imagine a world without respect. Think if nobody have respect for others views and thinking, regarding every aspect of life, and try to impose his own will then what would be the situation.

Certainly we will stop tolerating each other completely and will become absolutely selfish in our thoughts and deeds which is actual moral degradation. We will start slipping towards immoral actions which leave no room for existing human civilization. In short if respect is taken out of human values then there is almost no difference between a human being and a beast left, other than physical appearances.

So respect others and make them to respect you through you respected and polished manners. Don’t forget to distinguish between respect and flattering as respect makes you a human being of higher moral value while flattering makes you a degraded person with no self respect at all.

Culture can be defined as the amalgamation of various constituents of human existence. Culture has a broad definition, including the mannerisms that people exhibit (behavior patterns), their religious or spiritual beliefs and the principles that define their actions. Culture isn’t a single entity but applies to various forms of human expression, including arts, traditions and rituals that have been prevalent for some time. Understanding the culture of a community or a region essentially means, being able to understand the mindsets of different people and the reasons that govern their actions.

Understanding Importance of Culture — often quoted as ethnic backgrounds or traditions of a community, culture helps in rendering a sense of individualism to people. Even within a nation, a community can struggle to define itself or establish a unique presence. In such cases, the presence of cultural values often presented in the form of customary mannerisms or time-honored practices helps a community to carve a niche for itself.

Why is culture important from a unifying perspective?
In contemporary times, when nuclear families are becoming the norm and regional migrations are common, the presence of cultural values help to unite people separated by distances or difference in mindsets. People belonging to a community enriched with cultural aspects such as celebration of common festivals share a common bond that helps to unite them in an unspoken but effective manner. Following a community’s traditions means that the community members share various aspects like cooking recipes, sense of dressing and the manner of communicating which help in creating a sense of commonness and hence, unity.

People who migrate away from their homeland are able to sustain a sense of being connected with their family and their community if they continue to practice the traditions which have seeped into their lives as cultural values. Culture is often defined as an invisible, social-control mechanism wherein people start interpreting the cultural values that have passed on to them as the benchmarks for how they should function. In this manner, healthy cultural values often act as social-regulatory tools, helping to shape a better, more organized and united community.

Why is culture important from a global perspective?
An often underestimated contribution of culture lies in its ability to create a regional and socialist harmony. This is because the fast-paced, contemporary world wherein people from different corners of the globe are increasingly intermingling with each other. Every individual brings forth the customs and cultural aspects of a certain region. When people begin to understand different cultural aspects, they develop some degree of understanding of faraway nations and communities, helping them become better informed, more tolerant and smarter world citizens.
