The sea is salty because of the way the water in the sea got there. Over millions of year water has rained over the land breaking up rocks and transporting the minerals into the sea. The ocean started up just slightly salty and then getting more and more salty as more minerals are transported into the sea from rivers all over the world. Throughout the world rivers carry about 4 billion tons of dissolved salt into the ocean every year, over billions of years that sure is a lot of salt.

So why is the ocean salty while the rivers are mostly fresh water? The reason for this is how the sun vaporizes the water in the ocean and rains it down over land. The sun vaporizes almost pure fresh water from the ocean, most of the salts are left behind. And even though rivers are mostly fresh water, the little salt each liter of river water brings into the sea adds up over millions of rivers and millions of years.

The sea water contain about 3.5% of salt today, that is 35 parts of salts for every 1000 parts of ocean water. In some places there is more salt while some parts of the ocean the salt level is way lower, that is in areas close to several big rivers where lots of fresh water runs into the sea.

We hope this answered your question “Why is the sea salty?”, if you have any comments of more questions please let us know by posting below.

Basically, without water there would be no life, it is as simple as that. But if you need a more detailed answer then continue reading. Did you know that 75% of the human body is water. More then 95% of the Earth’s water can be found in the oceans. The world has about 2% of its water in frozen icecaps, and 1% of the Earths water is fresh but hard to get to since it is so deep in the Earth. From what is left over, 98% of the water is used for agriculture and the other 2% is used for all other living organisms.

We as humans depend on water to keep our right body temperature, as a transporting system, and to supply us with nutrients that it carries such as minerals, salts, and elements with which all of these things combined also help heal us and digest food. In order for our bodies to function the right way, water is like a lubricant for all of our joints. It also keeps our eyes and our mouths moist. The older we get the more we need to drink water. The average person should be drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day. If you are a heavy tea, coffee or alcohol drinker then your body needs to intake more water because those are all diuretics and they dehydrate you of all your water.

The human race depends on our water sources and with the growing population and everything that goes with it, our water is becoming more and more scarce.

Have you ever wondered why blood is red? Well there is a very easy explanation for this and I will explain it in this article. Did you also realize that red blood cells carry out the most essential duty that blood has. One little drop of blood has millions of red blood cells that are continuously moving throughout our bodies to deliver oxygen and remove waste. Without this constant procedure we would slowly die.

The reason for red blood cells being red is due to the fact that they embody a protein that is an intense red color. This chemical protein is called hemoglobin, which comprises of Iron and this makes a perfect way to transport carbon dioxide and oxygen. When the blood goes through your lungs, molecules of oxygen attach themselves to the hemoblobin. When blood goes throughout the body’s tissue, hemoglobin delivers oxygen to the cells. The hemoglobin becomes empty so then it connects with the carbon dioxide from the tissue and or waste, taking it all away. As time goes on the red blood cells eventually die, which their life cycle averages about 120 days long. Our bones are constantly making new red blood cells, to replace the ones that die. Blood is recirculated in our body and is not always remade. Because our bodies constantly produces new blood, this allows us to donate blood with as long as you meet the criteria, such as age, weight and health. Hopefully you now have a better understanding for why our blood is red.

Soil is very important in so many ways. Some people think of soil as just dirt. But that is just the contrary, there are major forms of life within soil, things that are very important to us such as; different types of living creatures, worms, insects, things that we need such as certain types of bacteria and fungi. Another all important reason soil is so important is for plants to live and survive. Certain plants depend on certain characteristics of their environment and the soil they are growing in. Soil is extremely important to gardeners and especially crop growers. They need to have just the right soil to make their gardens and crops flourish. Growers need to adjust the soil just right, pH balance of the soil determines the acidity or alkaline in the soil, the organic material in the soil needs to be just right, the soil needs to be aerated, soil needs to be protected with mulch against the harmful rays of the sun, and the moisture of the soil has to be just right.

You might wonder why bacteria and fungi are important in soil, it is because they create food to help the growth of plants. The bacteria and fungi carry material to plants to help them survive. Roots of plants are dependent on soil because this is how they are anchored down, they also soak up all the water and nutrients from the soil to feed the plant. The best type of soil is that of which holds moisture and can have a continual flow of air. Air is important to the plant in the soil because is gives the roots oxygen and takes out carbon dioxide. This is just the jest of it, there is so much more information about soil and its importance.

Normally cells can’t be seen by the naked eye because they are so very small. You will find many cells in an average organism. Robert Hooke discovered that there are over a billion cells in a cubic inch. Another fact about cells that is pretty incredible is that an average adult has over sixty trillion cells running through their bodies. Did you know that one pint of blood carries more then five billion cells in it.

With a finite life span, cells still break down periodically. Cells are constantly being repaired and renewed which lasts the entire life of the organism that is carrying them. One of the main reasons for cells being so small is well quite frankly there are so many trillions of them, so it is really based on elementary systematization. Another reason is based on mathematics. Which is a long complex plethora of information involving each cell and their surface are and volume. But we will not get into all that. Basically to break it down into a simple explanation is that cells are small because smaller in turn is faster. By minimizing the size of a cell, this maximizes it’s speed in which it needs to “communicate”, which needs to be at the same rate that diffusion occurs and the amount of outward area at its conveyance. Everything that lives is made up of cells which make up all the parts of an organism which in turn is responsible for all that happens in an organism. All in all cells are what keeps all living organisms alive.

Why do aardvarks have such long tongues? Why do aardvarks look so different? Why do aardvarks have such strange feet?

Aardvarks are fun and strange animals. They are like a kangaroo in that their front legs are not as long as their back legs. They have substantial claws that are good for excavating dirt. They are very adept at digging for their meal and making a home.

Aardvarks like to sleep during the day and hunt at night. They are solitary preferring their own company over that of joining other aardvarks. They like to build a new place to sleep very day. When they are resting they tend to close the entrance to their home with their body.

Aardvarks enjoy dining on termites. With their long nose and long tongue they are able to sniff out and gobble up hundreds of termites at a time. Aardvarks don not have many teeth and use their tongue for hunting and eating, they kind of lick up their food using the adhesive material on their tongues.

Even though they are primarily loners they male and female aardvark do get together to mate. The female prefers to stay in the same location where the males like to explore more. Aardvarks usually give birth to one young at each birth. Mother and offspring stay in the home for about 14 days and then momma begins to teach the youngster to hunt for dinner.

While they have a strong nose to identify smells, their ability to see is very limited. Aardvarks are careful when emerging from their dens. They first smell and then they listen; if all is clear only then will they venture out. The male offspring will take off after about six months, while the female hangs out with her mother until she once again gives birth.

If you have never seen this then you probably did not even realize that it is something they do. People thought at one time that they leaped out of the water so that they could get rid of the parasites that were on them. Another reason was believed that they did this to shock small fish by crashing down on them. Some also believe that it was to escape their predators or even a part of some sort of courting ritual.

What ever the reasons may be no one really knows for sure. But it is something spectacular to witness, especially if you get to see them do full somersaults. Unless they are harpooned, manta rays are not dangerous creatures, but when captured they can be very destructive with the thrashing of their big powerful bodies.

They normally travel alone but have been seen swimming in pairs or in groups of up to six other manta rays. Manta rays have a wingspan of about fourteen feet. There has been a few manta rays that have been recorded to get a wingspan of up to 26 feet and 3 inches. The heaviest manta ray ever recorded was 3,100 pounds, pretty incredible wouldn’t you say. There are about 318 types of species of rays in the ocean and the manta ray is the largest of all of them. Rays are found traveling in the oceans all over the world and they are a very interesting site to see.

For thousands of years people who rightfully believe in a creator have taken the word of scripture to be literal and scientific. As time and scientific discovery and understanding have increased, mankind has come to an understanding in regards to an evolutionary process that has been going on and that continues to go on. Since most people are logical enough to understand life complex as that which we see on Earth today simply must have a creator, a starting point and a source.

Well intended religious people of all faiths have unintentionally taken away from the glory of God’s achievement by discounting scientific discovery and understanding. Worse yet, they have given credibility to those who seek to diminish the idea that God exists at all. When you think about the creation of the Universe, we know it all started with the Big Bang. What then caused the Big Bang? In the process of creating our known Universe all of the energy needed to form the matter that we are all made of came from somewhere, or more accurately someone. Modern science affirms our common sense in that we know all things in our Universe have a beginning and ultimately an end. But what came before our beginning?

This is where creation must come in to the discussion from a stand point of intellectual honesty. The process of evolution, from the energy of the Big Bang cooling over time to form the matter that is stars and solar systems and planets capable of sustaining life, it all has a source. We call him God.

They have Kongs, and keys and many toys made of plastic and rubber. They have bones, balls, rawhide treats and chews, but nothing compares to the feel of a nice plump toy full of stuffing.

They pull apart the stuffing like they were attending an old fashioned taffy pull. They actually have a ritual of sorts. They circle the new object of their affection, carefully sizing it up. One picks it up and makes it their own, while the others try to steal it away. Let the tugging begin! After being pulled this way and that way, the poor little toy gets a tiny tear and the fun begins. Pulling harder and harder each dog wants to be the first to pull out the first gob of stuffing.

Once the first pile is removed from stuffed toy they all join in and help. It does not take long and you start to see the poor little stuffed toy start to deflate like a balloon with a slow leak. Soon there is nothing left but a shell and the dogs move on another toy destroyed. The bad thing is they tend to ingest a bit of the stuffing and the next day when I am out cleaning up the yard I find piles of fuzzy poop!
